Lost - 1x02 "Pilot, Part II"

I'd just like to remind everyone/anyone that I called the deprivation of history way back in July -- obviously, this conceit applies to Kate in this case, though don't forget Terry O'Quinn's character ("Want to hear a secret?").

As regards my initial assessment of Jack as the resident Sydney Bristow superman, he was fortunately confined to his doctorly ministrations. Unfortunately, Sayid took his place, fixing the transceiver and leading the hike up the hill. If a sample size of two episodes is anything to go by, we'll see a new and different übermensch each week! Ist gut, ja?

Nice maneuver in the potentially heavy-handed and righteous handling of "He's the criminal!"/"No, he's the criminal!" finger pointing. Setting up the binary of an Iraqi and a redneck, establishing either one would have fallen into treacherous territory; instead, they subvert partisan expectation and pin it on Kate.

Women. You can't trust them.
